About me..
Welcome — I’m Sarah Turton
Master Medicinal Herbalist, Iridologist and creator of The Turton Method™.
My work is rooted in nature, emotional awareness, pattern recognition and the old ways of healing.
Sussex Herbal grew from the belief that real wellness begins when we return to the land — when we slow down, reconnect, and remember that medicine grows quietly all around us.
My Approach
I bring together three strands of practice:
herbal medicine, iridology, and nature connection — all held within the wider framework of The Turton Method™.
Begin with a gentle first step.
‘7 Wild Plants for Nervous System Renewal’
Explore your constitution
A clear, compassionate map of your terrain, vitality and emotional patterns.
Herbal Medicine
I create personalised tinctures, teas and remedies tailored to your constitution, terrain and health story.
Each formula is simple, effective, and designed to support your body’s natural direction of healing.
Iridology
The eyes reveal the map of your constitution, vitality and emotional imprinting.
Iridology helps us understand the root patterns beneath symptoms and the state of your nervous system, digestion and resilience.
Nature Connection
I teach foraging, medicine-making and seasonal wellness across the Sussex landscape.
The chalk hills, hawthorn hedgerows, juniper, sea buckthorn and coastal winds shape much of my work here.
My Philosophy
Over the years I’ve come to see that true healing is rarely about quick fixes.
It asks us to pause, to listen inwardly, and to be willing to make changes — sometimes small, sometimes life-shifting — that allow transformation to unfold. Herbs are powerful allies, but they work most deeply when they are part of a wider journey of care: choosing foods that nourish, creating moments of rest, and reconnecting with nature’s steady rhythms.
My role is to walk beside you on that journey.
I help you uncover not just the symptoms you may be struggling with, but the roots beneath them — the patterns of stress, depletion, or imbalance that keep you from feeling whole. Together, we explore practical steps and remedies that support your constitution and terrain, while also encouraging you to embrace the changes that will sustain long-term wellbeing.
Because I’ve lived the experience of sitting with a loved one through illness, I know how overwhelming life can feel when you’re searching for answers. That’s why my work is rooted in empathy and compassion. I believe that with guidance, courage, and the support of nature’s medicine, even the hardest seasons can be softened, and new resilience and vitality can emerge.
This is the heart of my practice — and it is the foundation of The Turton Method™:
A method that listens deeply, reads the patterns, honours the emotional landscape, and uses the intelligence of plants to help the body return to coherence.
Why Sussex?
The landscape itself is medicine.
The chalk hills invite clarity.
The coastal winds reset the nervous system.
Juniper (Juniperus communis), hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) and sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) hold both emotional and physiological intelligence.
Sussex Herbal is shaped by this land — its spaciousness, its rhythms, its quiet strength.
My work here helps you feel grounded, clearer, and more connected to your own inner landscape.

The Heart behind Sussex Herbal
My journey into Herbal Medicine began with my sister. When she became very unwell, I stepped into consultations on her behalf, carrying her story when she couldn’t. We tried many healing paths — some helped a little, some not at all. But it was the herbs that made the greatest difference.
Though we knew there was no cure left to find, the plants gave her something more precious: quality of life. Herbal Medicine allowed her to be present with her daughters and family, to share laughter and love right up until the end. That experience changed me. I saw with my own eyes that herbs don’t just treat illness — they give back moments of connection, dignity, and ease.
In the years that followed, I realised I too needed healing. Nature became my guide. Walking under trees, sitting by rivers, and learning the language of plants helped restore my strength and spirit. The plants taught me that healing is not about quick fixes, but about being held, nourished, and gently brought back into balance.
This is why I became a Herbalist and Iridologist. When I sit with a client, I hold them with the same care I once held for my sister. I bring the same trust I found in nature’s medicine.
Sussex Herbal is born from this story — a place where people, plants, and the landscape come together, and where healing can unfold in its own time.
